The exterior house painting estimate in Lake Bluff for bidding a paint job is not either, at least not after you have learned how to paint an interior room or an exterior of a house. After you have painted the estimating is not really difficult.
The first thing that takes time is buying the paint. The next thing we do is unload the truck. Then we find a space to work from. Next we carry all of our gear to that spot. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to know how long it will take your crew to unload the truck and take everything to the working area. Write down the amount of hours that you think this will take.
Bringing in the stuff we need to paint the first room, and dropping out the room. Now we figure the time to protect everything that we don't want paint on. We next remove all the things that need to be removed. Now imagine spackling, caulking and whatever else has to be done prior to painting, add this to the hours from before.
Now before we go on do this little side exercise, notice how much time it takes to get to this point, even before we begin the painting job. This time has to be charged for also. Up to now it has been just imagination now you need to measure the room and count items like doors, windows molding and any other separate elements that need to be painted.
How you estimate the time it takes to paint the room should be from your historical jobs costs or if you are a painter you will know how much time to paint individual doors windows and square feet of walls or ceilings. So after you measure then calculate.
Finally in your mind estimate how long it will take to clean up, replace, and put everything back in the truck.
